Now coming back to to win this competition
You will have to have really unique idea which somewhat is falling under main theme. Each regional, national and other competition have 4 rounds of judgement on the basis which is mentioned below —
Wining regional exhibition is easy they have to select 24 teams out of 50 which goes in nationals and in national 4 teams are to be selected from each topic for example — if there are 8 themes then 8x4 = 32 teams or projects have to selected. On the other hand in IRIS — top 100 teams are selected out of 250 teams.
My personal Experience -: when I started out in these competitions I was in 9th standard when I reach iris I was in 11th standard. To reach CBSE regional I have to go through various competitions like JRSSME,Kendra vidhyala science exhibition ,FIDC Lucknow…. in approx. 20 competitions. I have travelled a lot of states to showcase my project and won many cash prizes but at last nothing mattered no one cared what I did . Only I left was a lot of backlogs with medals and trophies. Wining was mostly easy for me because in these competition judges come from village schools or colleges and they dont care whether you discover a new algae or power source to light the world . they are only here for media presence. They select models on the basis of how well you explain how much LEDs you have on your project and good looking your model is or sometimes on the basis of school whether you belong to DPS or convent school. But if you wanted to go other school competition and you are not good at sports you can enroll yourself in these competitions it will give very good exposure.
